2011 is upon us. The resolution season is here as well. Health clubs, diet businesses and stop smoking businesses will be bombarded with new clients and customers if only for a few weeks. I peronally have made many a new year resolutions with every intent of seeing it through but, never commited enough to it to actually accomplish the resolution. In frustration I have not made any new resolutions in the last seven years. I know there are things I need to do to improve my health, wealth and relationships. The question then becomes do I have the resolve to accomplish the goals I set for the new year.
The optomist in me thinks every new year will be a happy one. The promise of the new year going into it is that there is opportunity to improve the lives of my family and myself. There are years I have been dissapointed with were I am in life after the year. There are more years when I have been happy with where I was at the end of the year. Both are good reasons to celebrate a new year as an opportunity to improve our lives and the lives of those around us.
In the past my resolutions have been selfish. I resolved to improve something that would satisfy me with little or no thought to the people around me. This year I resolve to do little things that will improve the lives of the people around me, not only my family and friends but strangers as well. I have discovered over the past year my happiness heightens when the people around me are happy. Personal improvements that I make during the year will be aimed at keeping me healthy and happy so that my family will benefit as well.
Happy New Year everybody and resolve yourself to not only improving your own life but the lives of the people around you.

Just getting started
Sometimes my posts will slant to the right and other times to the left. Although I tend to vote conservative I do vote liberal when I believe that what is being offered is right for me and my family. My family is very important to me. I truely believe that I must and should do everything I can to ensure the future of my wife and daughters. The promise the constitution makes for Life, Liberty and the persuit of happiness is what makes America the greatest country.
Although I believe in the multi party system I also believe that the system has been corrupted. Our politicians have become more faithful to their party than their constituents. We elect people that make promises to us as constituents and supporters then get to the State House or Washington and become entrenched in party politics. They end up doing what's right for the Party rather than what's right for the constituents.
The main influences in my life have been my family and friends. My wife and I have been married for over twenty five years. Most of what I write about here will deal directly with our experience and expectations developed over the years.
